      Unicorn and Mermaid

      Unicorn and Mermaid

In the medieval world, spinning thread was considered a woman’s duty, and chastity her virtue.
The mermaid which was a symbol of desire and temptation stood in stark contrast to this ideal.
And yet, here she sits beside a unicorn, turning a spinning wheel, twisting threads of seaweed into shimmering cloth.
She does it simply because she wants beautiful seaweed fabric. (2023)
